There was some article (sorry, can't remember where) about how the gas prices are causing problems for all retail. People just don't have extra money to spend on things like fast food and books after they spend an extra $10+ to fill up their gas tank. I know we've been seeing it in bookstores for a while.

The line that the gas prices are affected so drastically, so quickly like something like Katrina is pure bs, especially since it happened to fall on Labor Day weekend ... when prices already take a major hike for weekend travellers.

The government really does need to step in and do something, but I don't think the Bush regime will do anything to stop the vast amount of money flowing into their coffers right now.
