Actually, nursing is a very lucrative career path to have right now. What with all the Baby Boomers getting older and needing more healthcare, nurses are in demand right now. So much so that hospitals and health care facilities are offering really nice perks to nurses (help with financing for new cars and homes and whatnot).

I say go for it, but don't take too long or else the field will become saturated and then you'll be up a creek.
