Piece of advice that saved my finacial ass while I was actively going to CSCC and recieving aid: if you don't HAVE to take a loan, don't take one. You'll probably be getting some grants and if they cover the majority of your tuition and books (like mine did) cough up the rest of the dough yourself.

Also, if you do have to take a loan, you don't have to take the whole amount offered. For example, if they say they can give you $3000 and you only need $1000, that's all you have to take. The option for more money is there if you need it.
